Should the Indian cricket team give up and go home?

I suppose with the series won England could, probably will, blood some newbies but don't let them off the hook now. The days of good losers and gentlemanly winners are long past.

I thought they drew that series? Either way I agree it will be a tougher series as in front of a home crowd they wouldn't be able to play so pitifully. I still really think Sachin and The Wall will call it a day soon. Laxman may still be around but to be honest this is a time for India to rebuild and though it's juct 18 months away both Tendulkar and Dravid will be knocking on 40 by then.

Nice to find another cricket fan though ;)

I'm talking when Hansie Cronje was Captain and Donald and Pollock leading the attack.

Dravid has scored 2 centuries in the series and Sachin starting to look good. They just love batting and can't see either giving up anytime soon.

Not sure they have too much else to come thats good enough to replace them.

Thats been the trouble the 3 guys in the middle order have been there for years and none of the yonger guys look to good against the short ball.

They are a better side with Zahir(?)

He always bowles well within himself so i don't think his age is an issue. Hadn't played in any meaningful cricket prior to coming here.
Injury wil be the only issue. I reckon he'll play for at least another 2 or 3 years at least.

Zaheer turned up about a stone and a half overweight, having had his feet up for several months rather than getting himself match fit after recovering from injury, then was completely disinterested in bowling in the warm up game (in which the whole teams attitude was utterly appalling for a national team, let alone one ranked no 1 in the world)

Despite what all true cricket fans would like, the money on offer for 6 weeks hit and giggle in the IPL means far more to most of the Indian team than test cricket.

As for the batters, they are fine on the sub continent pitches, but as soon as you add bounce and or sideways movement, the next generation very quickly become rabbits in the headlights.

Expect they all tour Australia later in the year but that is likely to be their last tour together, they may have one more gentle home series before calling it a day for good.

Only disappointment for me this series was picking Bopara in the last test. We already know what he can (or cannot do) and he couldn't win. He was under a lot of pressure.

For me it would have been a perfect oppotunity to play a youngster, if they failed it's experience, it they do well it's only good for confidence.

We're playing well enough this series to carry one batter, that is what happened with Bopara and we learnt nothing new.

Dead right, pointless, its not even like he is having a stella county season.

They should have picked The lad from Leicestershire James Taylor if they really thought they needed 6 batters. They picked Bopara cos he would have been able to bowl 5 overs which Trott has been doing.

Personally, harsh though it seems, drop Eyor, i would like another bowler, Bresnan to bat 7, Prior 6. or once we get to touring on the sub Con Samit Patel at 6.
