I knew an otherwise very mediocre player who was an ace player of his Ben Hogan Sure Out 60* - shaped pretty much the same and works on the same principle!
Been many of these fat soled wedges so this doesn't strike me as anything new. It clearly has a market but not for me.

Looks like the same principle as the Cleveland Smart Sole. The sand iron version in particular got good reviews at launch in 2013, but oddly the Smart Sole only seems to be available in the US now.
