short game clubs

60* for getting over greenside bunkers or when playing to a pin down slope.
48* for majority of chip and run around the green.
PW for longer chip and runs.

I had my lofts checked a few months ago....
7 iron... 36
8...........40
9...........44
pw.........48
sw.........56

A Wilson D17 PW is 43 Deg?

52 50%
56 25%

The remaining 25% will be 8, 9, PW, 60 or putter depending whats in front of the green

Have tried to use my flatter irons more but have issues with distance control and dodgy links bumps in front of the green.

Even the players clubs are getting that way. MP 69's are:

7 - 34
8 - 38
9 - 42
P - 46

Good half a club in the last few years, you'll have to remember that Bob!

At this rate there will be 16 Handicappers knocking their wedges past my 7 iron but their wedge will be about 24 degrees. Then what do they chip with? One of the 7 extra wedges in the bag I guess.

If there is no danger/i can use the ground to get near the pin i tend to use 8I 9/10, occasionally 6I, my theory is using the 8I a lot gives me oodles of experience how that club plays loft/run wise etc and in theory!!!! gives me consistency. :)

Yep, at first I was mightily unimpressed with a 12* difference between PW and SW but I have to say that I find the PW excellent for most chip and run shots.

Only problem is, it's too much for most approach shots within 100yds.

Use the 8 iron when i have enough green to play with otherwise a 52 degree, 56 and 60 are saved for emergencys, much prefere using as little loft as posible and using the putting stance
