Footjoy or Ecco or Stuburt?.

Reason I ask is that I am on my 2nd pair of FJ's (bought the trainer style ones, really comfortable but not too substantial in the damp chilly mornings).

Have a hankering for a nice pair of "proper" shoes. Loathed to spend mega bucks what with credit crunch and lack of job security, but the Stuburt DC range look really nice, as do the FJ Classics (£275 is just silly though). Ecco seem good and alot of people swear by them.

What do the rest of forumers think?

PS. On the Sausage thread, has to be Lincolnshire from a proper butchers :D

Cumberland sausage for me with blackpudding & lots of mushrooms along with two fried or poached eggs, after my salted poridge... Oh & when will hotels realize that the toast & marmalade is supposed tocome after the breakfast maincourse & not first with the tee/coffee & fruitjuice.

Yeah, lincolshire sausages are nice too.

Depends on what you mean by proper shoes, if you are thinking hushpuppies, then look at ECCO... I'dreally like a pair of ECCO shoes.

Not tried any Stuburt shoes, heard mixed reports, but amopen minded. Wouldn't mind trying a pair of the DC Stuburts in the pink he wore at the Belfry in the British Masters.

Oh, I've noticed that a lot of guys on the tour are now using Adidas Tour 360 LTD shoes. they look smart & for addidas shoes are actually quite a wide fitting for once.

I don't wear any of my classics in the winter. They are for nice dry sunny days only. Way too expensive to drown in mud.

Tried the DC range, as I like the Pink ones (and the green ones too). However, they don't fit my feet, and the sizing is really odd, so don't mail order without trying them first.

Never tried Ecco, but they are supposed to be nice.

For the winter and a fairly warm shoe its got to be, for me, the footjoy greenjoys, they are cheap (look ok bar the little creases on the sides of the sole) I have a pair of black greenjoys, when they are half covered in spatters any shoes will do!

There are so many nice looking shoes out there the choice is really tough - as I say, I would love a full on leather sole, welted pair. However, I don't even want to go there on the basis that I can't justify that kind of money.

That said, I want to be comfortable and dry on these winter mornings. so if the Greenjoys do it then so be it.

Next point and one for a bit of heated debate - has anyone had their Footjoys made into MyJoys with any sort of monogramming, etc. A really nice to have, but surely sets one up for a bit of ridicule? Discuss :D

I've got two pair of myjoys. A blue and black pair and white red and black pair both with Homer down the side. I like the fact that they are unique and nobody I've played with at my club has said anything derogatory. My regular playing partners had a bit of banter but that was expected and as they all know me as Homer anyway I think they were quite impressed. Got mine through my local pro and it worked out for a pair of Drjoy Pods at £105 per pair which was only £6 more than AG RRP on a standard pair

I tried a pair of the adidas 360 ltd at the weekend and I normally take an 8. The left shoe fitted fine but the right was soooo tight. Tried the 8.5 and the left was too loose and the right still didn't feel right. I can never seem to get adidas to fit me in any of their styles

The problem with the DCs was more the heel didn't grip my foot, so I felt I was wearing flip flops, with them slapping up and down as I walked. Would quickly blister.

I'm obviously tighter then you guys (or skinter!), but my FJ Greenjoys are the only golf shoes I have. They're 2 years old now, and are now only just starting to let water in. As a cheap way of solving the problem I now wear (here I go again!!), a pair of Seal Skinz waterproof socks. Cheaper than a new pair of shoes and totally waterproof. So I get some extra life out of my shoes, keep dry feet, and the Mrs is happy that I'm not spending yet more money on golf stuff.
