Senior Age Variations!

Our Seniors section starts at 50, although curiously I can't play in our Seniors Open until I reach 55. No reduction in fees at any age for our seniors or veterans, that is the preserve of the intermediates (18 - 30)

We have some anomalies like this.

A recent winner of our August Monthly Medal which incorporated the Stanley Dunn Cup, plus the Senior and Veteran Trophies was crowned Senior Club Champion, but he's not even 50 I believe!

He wasn't even aware of it until it was announced, so taking nothing away from him, because its not his fault, it just doesn't make sense that all our single sex senior comps at the club are for over 60's and we have a senior club champion under 50 :mmm:

All the mixed opens at my club are a minimum 55 but when its gents only, its 60

Seniors at our club start at 55 and you can enter any of the seniors comps from then. As for a discount
Ive just turned 60 but not been offered one :(
Oh and someone mentioned seniors opens around the country that we can enter
could someone give me a heads up as to where to find info on them Thanks

The sensible clubs only give discounted membership on the number of membership years.
My brother only pays £400 a year for a 'top top' three course club after 40 years membership [and a good stint on the committee]
If a 60 year old joined he would have to wait until he was 100 to get the same deal.

English Golf and SGU events are from 55 years old [I'm sure]

Our club seniors start at 55 although we, and most other clubs including county have vets matches for over 60's. The more older the club the more likely the seniors section started at 60. We don't offer special membership for seniors because, as pointed out we get more use of the facilities.

A lot of seniors opens are great value and we go to several paying £20 including 2 course meal. Most of our senior friendliest come in at around the £12 with meal.

Anyone living in the north of Devon or Cornwall should look at the Bude opens, seniors and men's as theirs are really good value.

55 at ours , active membership of around 120 playing Mondays and Thursdays. But the Rusty Zip section, is the one I am aiming for (Over 75s only) I am hoping still to have the ability to get around at 75!! Maybe by that age, I'll play a round in gross 75 , too.
