Late decision to head to Liverpool for work. Pull into the hotel to find thousands of folk lining the docks outside the hotel.

Turns out the queen Elizabeth is casting off and there's a 15 minute fireworks display going on.

Was fabulous! Superb display.

Felt like a kid again. Massive ship and fireworks.

Not see that again for a while

Went to the golf course tonight to watch the team play a league match, got to the 6th green the highest point on the course from were you can look out over the North Sea, north to above Newcastle and south to the Yorkshire coast, anyway, HMS Ocean (Helicopter assault vessel, similar to an aircraft carrier) was sailing south from Sunderland back to Portsmouth after spending 4 days saying farewell to the City as she is decommissioned next year.

It was very impressive to see the size of it so close to the town, probably one of the biggest ships I've seen on this coast in recent years.

No fireworks but a good 20 minutes of watching her sail off down the coast.
