Played my best round last night and shot a 77, 37 on the front and 40 on the back including 4 birdies with a pitch in from 75yrds.

Ecstatic, I walked off the course and put my clubs away. Sitting in th bar having a cold one and the barmaid shouts, who owns a grey Golf? I put my hand up, she walks over and says your side window has been smashed. Yes, you guessed it, my shiny new sticks + sky caddie including a MX-700 5 wood and Mizuno Bettinardi that I was using for the first time were gone.

It was 8:10pm (still daylight), there is no CCTV and there were around 20cars in the car park.

2/3weeks now without any clubs. I just hope that my home contents insurance coughs up. Although they have said that I am covered.

P'd off......YOU BET!

Ouch.
Things on view is never good, particularly in a dodgy area, not that I'm assuming it is .

If the Insurance can confirm they are covered, can they authorize you to purchase replacements quickly ??

O Dear, that is my worst nightmare, is it a private course? Local Muni etc?

Sadly thats the way of the world, I am not going to rub salt in the wounds and tell you what you should of done, but I do hope the insurance pays out and or someone seen something, heard something, comes across something that may help get them back!

I dont have much to offer but if you have trouble with the insurance, I have a Wilson deep red putter you can take off me untill you get sorted, maybe others have spare kit lying about they could loan you till you get sorted???

Really hope you get back to playing someway soon, I really feel for you

:(

'I may well have put them in the boot and the trolley on the back seat. I cant remember."

Peter - I'd be very careful what you tell the Insurers, I feel sure you would have done exactly the above, and therefore they simply dropped the back seat down to get the clubs out, .......Im sure thats what happened. :D

Hope you get playing again soon, and make sure you're Club warn everyone else about it, - hopefully it might prompt them to do something to tighten things up .

scum indeed....

the punishment for this kind of thing really isn't enough to deter them from doing it time and time again.

for honest decent people, the system sucks. :(

Terrible stuff Peter. I felt bad enoguh when I thought my putter had been knicked recently (got it back next day), totally gutted to get the full set taken, especialy just as the season is kicking off.

We have this issue at our Muni in golfing season, in winter and out of season you can leave your clubs in the locker room and have a pint or two without using your locker (mine is usually full of practice kit), now with pay and play members about I have to lock my kit away as they could easily walk into the bar, have a pint and go to the toilet and exit via the unlocked locker room door, have mentioned this to the hon sec but I am not holding my breath in getting a fire door/auto close thingy put on the internal door.

The worst part of this is the 'thieving scum' will probably flog the whole lot for £50 - £100! To you the are priceless to them just a few quid!!!! I hope the insurance do the right thing and you don't have any haggling nonsense!!!

Look on the bright side, how much fun are you going to have one the insurance money comes through, looking at all those shiney new irons, that sexy little hybrid, two ball or anser style, Taylor Made Burner driver or Ping V2????

Saying to shops I'm going to spend X! What deal are you going to give me. Custom fit, waterproofs, golf balls!!!!

Wow,, all clouds and all that.

Assuming you've still got proof of purchase of your new clubs, and an independant witness, I can't imagine the insurance co giving you any problems.

Horrible to have happened, but hopefully it won't give you any long term hassle.

All the best wishes for a speedy return to the course.

Are there any volunteers out there who would like to go golf shopping with PPE and help him spend his insurance money?

If you didn't live so far away, I'd help you spend it :D

That is terrible!
Coincidentally I returned from my morning round today to find that one of his colleagues had been trying to get through my side gate. He lifted the latch and managed to pull back the top bolt but could not reach the lower bolt. I suppose he was the same one who burgled me eighteen months ago and got away with my gold watch and my wife's gold necklace.
I hope you have no trouble with insurance.
