Scott Parker is a liability. All very well diving into challenges but it will cost us in the Euros unless he learns not to go in with studs.

I wouldn't say he's a liability, but Parker is your traditional hard-working, honest English pro who always gives 100%, which is fine for the Premiership but, as experience has shown, is not really good enough at international level. If all our midfielders are fit and available then to be honest I think there are about 3 or 4 younger players who are a better option than Parker in central midfield.

The kids footi team I co run were playing the team his boy plays for the other week. He was there as it was the day after Spurs played in the cup on the Friday night. We got soundly thrashed but thats another story. My point is that after the game he spoke to my players and offerred encouragement etc. Naturally they were chuffed to bits to meet him.
He didnt have to do that - A real good guy IMO (and a nice Porsche to boot!).

Totally agree with this part of your post. Scotty is a legend. Im not English so dont really give a *** but ha is def a good choice for captain, he was throwing himself at everything lastnight. If the whole team put that much effort in England would go places. Also dont like Gerrard, hes a cocky git.

Have to disagree with you though Wolfie I'm afraid - effort only gets you so far - you need ability at the highest level and unfortunately England don't have that at the moment (although a number have the potential) to be able to compete against the top class sides. Holland were a class above England last night, despite there being only two places between them in the so-called rankings.

You have to remember it was a youth team out lastnight with very little experience playing for their country. There was only 20 something caps between the back 4. Its the future and I think England have quite a few very good young players coming through. Just look at the so called golden generation, full of talent with players playing at the highest level, if that bunch had showed the sort of passion and pride scotty did I think they would have done a hell of alot better.

Parker is pretty good at what he does normally. I think he felt the need to go over the top the other night and lead by example too much.

With the correct instructions he'll be OK. I'd rather have him than the coward Gareth Barry, who will be guarenteed to go missing when it counts. After his pitiful display against Germany he should never have been allowed to play for England again. Centre circle stroller.

Carrick is a better option to Barry and is at least proven at the highest level. However untill Wilshire is back to his best our midfield is pretty poor.

I agree. It happened with Rooney who has largely calmed down or at least until he was a p**t and got sent off and scuppered any hope of qualification from a tight group in the summer. On the whole he has behaved better though and I think Parker could do the same although I don't think you'll ever take the English tackle out of his game which may be a problem at international level
