After watching a few of the BBC programs about people getting scammed I have realised that it's not just the elderly or stupid people but school teachers, teenagers, students etc that can all get conned and in any sort of situation, not just the usual dating / share scheme type of scams. Got me thinking, has anybody heard of or been scammed in the golf industry or is it as honest and clean as we like to think it is?

I was conned once, not by a golf shop but by a paper shop in Inverness.
Outside the shop was a board with the following headline.....

"Loch Ness monster spotted by students...pictures inside".

So I bought the paper, opened it and saw the pictures of the ......students

I'd imagine golf is a pretty soft target for scammers. Plenty of money in people's pockets, and they all want to believe that spending it will make them better at the game.

Not just talking about fakes, but marketing hype from the big firms as well. It creates a feeling that a 28 handicapper can cut their handicap by buying a £250 driver.

I've played with Delb a 2 or 3 times now. His handicap is one of the biggest scams I know of!!!
