Imagine this forum had been around in 1932(!). What do you think the reaction would have been to Gene Sarazen's new-fangled sand wedge? Would it have been considered 'non conforming' in those days, in the same way, say, broomhandle putters are now? After all, a sand wedge is designed to make it easier to get out of a bunker....a long putter is designed to make it easier to putt (supposedly). Maybe in years to come, long putters will come to be as accepted as the sand wedge is now. Perish the thought.
