Do we clean them up or not?

I've just bought a 52 and 60 Callaway X Series Jaws pair and they're in good condition but rusty. Any advice? Cheers :)

Some wedges are designed to rust\discolour a bit. Some believe it gives them more spin but I don't know if that's true. The primary advantage for me is that the rusting reduces glare in sunny conditions

Are they the Raw (As in meant to rust) finish or just a regular satin finish with a few specs' of rust?

Yes, they're raw (slate finish) just read that they're supposed to do this and may increase spin. The salesman said I could clean them if I wanted though

Mine are raw ping tour s wedges and personally I like the rusty look, got them for a song too as the person who had them before didn't like it so didn't use them much.
Whether they increase spin is up for debate and I haven't found much, if any, difference. I think the quality of your strike will do more for spin than a bit of rust.

I prefer them clean, but then again they will be rust during a wet round anyway!

I've never noticed any difference in performance, but if they are very rusty, such that you get strong brown marks on the ball, I can't believe that isn't degrading the grip in the same way as grass etc

Right now mine are clean, but by the end of next week they will probably be at least a little rusty again :)

Found this on the Callaway website

Your slate finish X Series JAWS CC Wedges are raw, meaning that the carbon steel is not plated. With time and use, your slate wedges will rust, which will add roughness to increase spin and provide a non-glare surface.

A raw, rusty finish is the condition that many top professionals prefer. As the forged carbon steel of your slate wedge oxidizes, it will rust in a way that complements the sound and feel inherent in the metal, while also reflecting the personality of each user. You can promote this process by simply putting your wedges into play and enjoying them, then wiping them clean and dry immediately after each use.

In time, they will take on a character and finish that's uniquely suited to your style and conditions of play. If you wish to clean your slate wedges and slow the rusting process, you can use a synthetic scouring pad called Scotch-Briteâ„¢ Purple.

Rust doesn't increase spin.
It's just a cosmteic finish that some like.

Doesn't do anything for me - give me a satin finish every day.
