the mrs bought me a nice shiny mizuno wedge for xmas

however i have hardly used it because I do not like the clicky feel the chrome finish gives and also the glare from the sun is quite annoying!

how do i get it to go soft and rusty

Thanks

The glare from the sun is going to be less of a problem really soon.

If it is a finished wedge, it will not rust unless you take the finish off. I have heard of people soaking the wedges in Coke (other cola drinks are available), but check the interweb for advise before doing so. If it is a raw wedge, water will do it.

It won't really get any softer, even if you remove the finish. Although chrome is a hard substance, at only a few microns, it isn't going to make any difference.

Sounds like a receipe for an absolute mess. The finish will be uneven, and any rust that occurs will come off at the first touch of sand, or divot, or mark every head cover in your bag.

Good luck.

Post some pictures too....

Take it down to your lacal metal platers.
They will dip it in muriatic acid. will take seconds and cost hardly anything. This will remove all the chrome.

Doubt it will be as soft as a proper mild steel / raw wedge tho mate.

hope this helps.

The club will still have a nical coating (a process required before chrome plating)
This is much more difficult to remove, the muriatic acid wont touch it.

So as its not virgin steel it may not be as soft as an untreated wedge... who knows?
Maybe nothing in it.
