Has anyone played this course?

It's one of a number of local tracks that i play (i'm not a member) and wanted to see what anyone out there thought about it?

Not a long course but tricky none the less. Par 5 1st is a tough first hole, up hill, always windy, elevated green....

I played there a couple of times ages ago. There were a couple of holes that I can remember, a par 3 over a valley, a par4 with a cardiac hill and the 18th being almost drivable.

Biggest memory is that it is public land and therefore you had to watch out for ramblers and also dogs/dog walkers.

Oh, and we used the 18th as a ski slope in winter :)

played it two or three times - quite enjoy it.

1. it's cheap - can be really cheap
2. I don't think it has a flat lie on it
3. don't even bother if you don't have a power trolley
4. bring your crampons
5. did I say it can be cheap - they had it down to £15 one Sunday and still took a 2-for-1 (not me but I know who did)
6. windy, always windy, very open, chalk downland, dries quite well so looong bounces

Isnt Royston the course where you read every putt as breaking towards the road? If its the one I think played there quite a few years ago, think we have a reciprocal deal with them nowadays, should try and play it again at some stage

It used to have two holes where you hit it over a public road! Not sure how many cars it took being hit for that to get changed.

Great teaching Pro Sean

Club house at least 1/4 mile from the 1st hole

As a previous forum member has said watch out for the dog walkers as being on public heath land they have full right of way
