nipped next door to the petrol station to get a carton of milk this morning. Got to have my morning cuppa.
Took the normal £1.04 to get a one litre bottle.
"It's gone up" says the guy behind the counter.
"OK" says I and hands him over £1.10
"No it's more than that, it's £1.29 now"
£1.29????? That's a 25p increase. Almost 25%!!!
Feck that. I'll drive to Tesco. OK it will cost me 30p in petrol but I've got principles.

Re: Robbing Nasty People....

Local places here do milk for 89p or 99p depending on which shop but that is for 2 litres, tescos do it for a quid but the local garages (spar) charge 1.29 for 2 litres. Still expensive for what it is.

BTW Bar Stewards looks better and less offensive! :D

Milk is a funny one because everyone wants it cheap, yet its already too cheap, Farmers cannot produce milk cheaply enough for places like Tesco Etc and are subsidised by the Government, so in a way it would make more semse to pay a fair price in the first place

I don't mind paying a fair price but £1.29 with a 25p price increase is taking the piss. I will not buy it out of there again on principle.
They charge 65p for a pkt of Rizla green papers, papers that everywhere else I can buy for 15p, 20p tops!
No wonder the git drives around in a Mercedes sports car.
Well I'm not subsidising it. I'm going to Geoffrey the place.

Re: Robbing Nasty People....

These garages and spars and that should be done for robbery, seriously.

My local spar charges 99p for a can of coke and wanted £5.79 for 4 cans of stella. Its a disgrace.

If enough people boycott them they will soon strap-up.

So why do tescos charge 20p per 2 litre container more than my local newspaper shop?

Make a stand Smiffy, someone has to, there is far too much of this going off. Vote with your feet. We stand for the drop of York in this country. Well I'm with you on this and can assure you I will never buy my milk from there either.

Not to be prejudiced [hope that's how u spell it] in any way or form but are they foreign nationals by chance?! Because it seems where i live all the patrol stations are owned by foreign nationals and the prices well are ludicrous high.

Got it in one... ;) ;) ;)

And the new manager is obviously a great businessman.
We used to have an arrangement with the previous owner regarding using their carwash. Because we used to put so many cars through there he did us a special deal which he does with the local taxi drivers.
Full wash, wax and dry for £1.99.
We used to put a load of cars through there a week.
He has now decided to take that special offer away and we now have to pay the same as the general public for the same programme......£5.99!!
I said to him the other day, wouldn't you rather have 20 cars come through at £1.99 than none at £5.99.
He didn't seem to understand.
We get a lad in to wash them now

Take your tea without milk and give up the fags.

Then use your extended lifespan to mock him on a daily basis.

That'll learn'm! :D

Re: Robbing Nasty People....

alot of things to be considered here mr smithy,

Later trading hours mean increased overheads
less volume buying means higher price
less volume sold will also result in higher amounts being throuwn where they have been on the shelf to long
and as said its on your door step convinience charge.

Gte cravendale, problem solved, that stuff may be expensive at £2.30 odd for a 4 pinter, but it lasts almost 3 weeks, so you never throw it away, better to spend 2.30 on 4 pints, than 1.50 and have it go off every 3-4 days.
