just had my renewel through from Admiral. £646

Went online to the meerkat site and there are 42 quotes UNDER £350

WORST of all Admiral quotes £326 WTF?

I will be phoning them in the morning and unless the beat the £326, they can shove it where the sun don't shine. How can they do this?

I had the same fella, direct line quoted me from £712 last year to £968 this year and thats with an extra years no claims.

I rang them and they offered to reduce it to £868 as a token of goodwill, I told them to shove their token of goodwill up their asses and went to AA instead and got my insurance for £635 + free breakdown cover.

Try First Direct ( do it online) I happen to bank with them and have done for years but never taken any of their insurances got a great deal on our car with them a couple of months back.
They will also guarantee to beat your current quote by at least 10%

Do you get the discount because you bank with them?

I have a mate that is a pertner in a brokers. He's gonna have a look at what he can do for me in the morning. Couldn't get anywhere near them last year but times change.

Incidently, my sons insurance is cheaper than mine and he's only had his own insurance for 2 years.

I'm firmly of the opinion that you have to Compare the Meercat every year, or you will pay over the odds.

There doesnt seem to be any loyalty benefits at all, and those that 'cant be bothered' to double check are the ones that simply subsidise the Insurance Company coffers.

If thats the way they wanna play and all that........

Talking of which.......I cant understand this.....

My current ageing V70 Volvo costs me £196/year, and is worth about £3k.

I was 'considering' getting a C250 Cdi Merc on a lease, and even though its a £30k Car, it was still only £230 !

I must be a very good Driver........

Cost of repair has a lot to do with it and surprisingley Merc spares aren't as expensive as you'd think, unless you let their technicians fit them.

Never ever stay with the same company for two years. Insurers always give the lowest quotes to new customers so change every year and get better deals.

I compare the meerkat and other sites to get a target price.
I then keep twisting my broker's arm until they can match it.
None of my policies are over £300. All fully comp, 2 drivers, all at least group 12.....

You may have noticed a few "we don't use comparison sites" adverts cropping up...."come to us direct for the best deal"

Best deal my backside......

Comparison websites are good if you have a fairly standard policy, a few years of no claims etc.

I'm a 22 year old male, with 6 points and 0 no claims. I drive a Seat Ibiza and I still couldn't get a quote on there for under £2k x

I've used a Broker for years and years and they always get me the best deal.

Fully comp. myself and wife, for business use £234, if I stayed with the previous insurer it would have cost £276. Not much difference but still a saving. Also needed a 2 day cover for a courtesy car last week. They faxed all details of cover to garage supplying car and received cover note in post next day. Pretty good service I'd say.

And contrary to that, I did use a Broker for years and years, and despite them being very good, invariably once I checked online, they couldnt get near.

Haven't paid much over £200 for years, but as you say, once they think they've got you they take the pish.

Mine's due next month, haven't started looking yet as I'll wait until I see what Churchill are offering this time (I did notice that last year they took off the free chip repairs). I used the Post Office one year - £196 then got £50 cashback.

Many of those that you would think should be cheaper turn out not to be for some reason; I was forced to respond to one quote though,

'your quote was significantly MoreThan any other, so I won't be insuring with your company.'

I use swift cover, they dont want to know the ins/outs of a ducks hoop and where cheaper than anyone else.

I recommend everyone to have a little look at them.

The cost folks is in the quality of claim settlement!

Cheapest could be most expensive.

Short story re cost, my wife's car was hit by a young girl driving dad's car on way to her work, accepted liability, dad not happy but assured me he had FULL cover with daughter insured to drive, all done on net.

Turned out she was, but not to and from place of work.

Very expensive.

Audi A6 3 litre diesel, full NCB, £295 protected with BMW Insurance. Funny that it is cheaper than Audi Insurance. I get the best quite each year and BMW will price match. Privilege is usually the other one that the price comp website throws up.
