RiP Ken

RIP Doddy...

A true comedy legend and a great ambassador of Liverpool.

I saw him years ago, he did an 8-12 shift that evening. Brilliantly funny, non stop gags. Never swore during the evening, never relied on the front row of the audience as so many current comedians do. He had a full act and gave brilliant value for money. I saw a comment today by one theatre person on the lines of theatre workers across the country will be that little bit poorer today, less overtime. Said with love.

He had a great innings, doing what he loved and was respected. That is how to live.

Took our boys to see him in the early 90's. At 1am, with his act still going strong we had to take the boys home. The youngest was only 6 yrs old, and would wake up to laugh at a joke then go back to sleep. They created merry hell, for weeks, with their tickling sticks. A fantastic show, good clean fun.

What a great entertainers... thanks for the memories RIP Ken.

Robster, having seen them both the nearest modern day equivalent is Tim Vine. Similar style of gag, one and two liners, no swearing, one after the other with no let up. Both are in my top 3 of comedians that I have seen live, Peter Kay being the third. I haven't seen loads to be fair but I think all three of those would take some budging, they appeal to my style of humour.

My mems of him largely limited to the Diddy Man of Knotty Ash. Otherwise wasn't that fussed to be honest - but certainly was all good clean scatter-brained fun. The sadness for me is one of time - and times gone - the musical hall and theatre comedians - simpler times gone...RIP with yer ticklin' stick sir!

Very sad. True comic genius with a unique delivery, unique look and perhaps the last of the old variety performers. Saw a documentary on him once and seemed a very complex character with so many insecurities (especially with money and about his performance each night) but so warm whenever meeting a member of the public. Can remember the diddymen on TV as a kid. RIP Ken and thanks for the laughs

We went to see him last year, finally, and luckilly, he made my wife laugh so he's a genius. The standing ovation at the end was awesome.
