RIP Frank Bough

Sadly Homer I suspect he is now most famous for matters outside of broadcasting. A wonderful, reassuring voice, consumate professional. Another one from that era to go. Inevitable but still sad.

I remember the shock when the stories about the drugs and hookers came out. If there was one person on TV who you'd stake your life on being squeaky clean, it was Frank Bough.

You know we had a deep and meaningful discussion about that last night. He was dumped from TV when the “ scandal” came out. We were discussing this when Piers Morgan was interviewing Cliff Richard. All the skeletons in Piers Morgan’s Cupboard yet he still has a Media platform. How times have changed.
RIP Frank Me man.

From our Regt Sec:

There have been a number of articles and obituaries following the death of Frank Bough, the TV anchorman and sports presenter. He already had a football Blue from Oxford and while serving with 2RTR, during National Service, he was picked up by BFBS, the British Forces Broadcasting Service, to act as a summariser during important football games which they were covering. It was this experience which gave him a taste for the media and paved the way for his subsequent notable career. He was a thoroughly competent troop leader and a very nice person, with absolutely no show-business “side”.
