Hi,

I was playing a four ball yesterday with 3 friends, and a random conversation started on where we all position and place the ‘tip of our thumb’ and the ‘tip of our index finger’ on the club during our swing.

I have them touching each other throughout the swing, whereas others had them resting on the grip, etc.

Where is supposedly the right place?

To be precise will depend on a number of things
1. Do you have a 'standard' neutral grip (bit like holding a revolver with your finger on the trigger).
2. How long are fingers and thumb.
3. How thick are your grips.

For me
1 yes
2 glove size ML
3 Standard size on a .600 shaft

there is a gap of about quarter of an inch

I have a strong grip so my right thumb points straight down the grip, slightly right of centre. Not going around the grip to meet the forefinger on the other side.

There is an exception when I'm driving though. With the driver I've started moving my thumb across rather than down the grip because that seemed to stop me fading it as much. So it almost rests against the side of my right middle finger.
