How funny is this? I can't believe they'll ever let him present them again but some of these gags were just so near the knuckle. And when he introduced Robert Downey Jr ... "You know him from films like Ironman and places like the Betty Ford Clinic and the LA County Jail"....

He's not everyone's cup of tea but he is a legend - he just doesn't give a [****] what people think. Then again, we could get Frankie Boyle to do it in 2012 ....

I'm never sure just how much 'tongue in cheek' his arrogance is, and if it really is just a show etc, and although I didnt see a lot of `The Office', I did find 'Extras' absolutely brilliantly funny, and cringeworthy too.

I mean......take a look......this is the episode where Winslet has suggested to Maggie that she starts to talk dirty to her boyfriend over the phone to keep things 'on the boil'...... its classic :D

The Office was hilarious but I just don't find anything Gervais has done since funny including his stand up routine and what he did at the Globes.

I appreciate that he is not everyones cup of tea, I don't find him particularly funny most of the time, but there are moments in there that do tickle a rib. I'm not sure his sense of humour will be gotten by the Americans, but then they did get the office, which I totally hate.

They didn't get The Office! It was re-written for them!

I don't think they re-wrote Friends, Seinfeld, etc for us.

Gervais' sitcoms are very, very good. His stand-up not so.

This was the first funny thing he's done in a long time. Hollywood is too bar up it's own collective arse and alot of what he said was just what everyone is thinking looking from the outside in.

Funny stuff IMO.

Funny thing is that when you look at all of the faces, they were all either smiling, laughing or wiping tears away..while smiling.
I think a lot of the air sucking was done in jest as they didnt think anyone would do it so easily. The guy never broke a sweat nor looked ill at ease. I cant say I am a fan of his but he did quite well.
