As a former member (student) at Royal Aberdeen I was pleased to see their man Richie Ramsay winning the South African Open earlier with full European Tour status.
Any Scottish golfer doing something in the Pro game has to be celebrated as there is a distinct lack of big name golfers up here.
Looks like he has the makings of a half decent player as that was a decent field he beat with a closing 65.
Well done RR.

excellent news ..never seen it ..does he get an exemption with the win
2 year exemption until end of 2011. Good reward on top of the £140k. Nice Xmas in the Ramsay house I'd imagine.

Ramsey won did he? That must have been a blow for Sky Sports and their anti-Scottish golfer stance. They must have been raging that they had to show the play off which featured a Scotsman!

Well done Richie, flawless golf today not that we saw any of it.

I didn't detect any anti-Scottishness on Sky, isn't the presenter a Scot? :D

No mention of it on the BBC news either. :D

I agree, terrible anti Scottish programme making!! :D

I mean, why aren't they covering all those Scottish players ranked inside the world top 100??

Great 1st win, meant an awful lot judging by his interview afterwards.

Good lesson for us ams on the last hole with Ramsey & Shiv Kapur in regulation time. Both shortsided on 18th, both played safe chips and guaranteed a 5 rather than the hero shot which could have brought 6 or 7 into the equation.

Well, done to the lad. Like Murph, I've also played Pearl Valley and it's very tough.

No disrespect to Ramsay but the field was very poor compared to last year. Moving this event from January has ruined it. No Els, Westwood, McIlroy, Stenson etc. They were all there last year. Bad news for an old and famous event.

Really pleased to see him win. You have got to have something special about you to win the US amature and at 25 he can hopefully push on and win more.
