Renationalising

Some things don't work when rule by private companies and other things don't work when run by public bodies. I have worked in both extremes - The NHS doesn't work privately - companies cherrypick specific services and then try to leverage profit by reducing skill mix and it always go wrong. Even the internal market has been terrible for the NHS,. causing enormous fragmentation and massive wastage of money. US healthcare is disastrous, very very expensive, excessive intervention for those with insurance, sod all for those without. On the other hand, the pharmaceutical industry couldn't be operated effectively by public companies - innovation and risk-taking (of the useful sort) isn't part of the culture.

So I like the central command and control system for one, and the capitalist free market for the other.

We have in effect renationalised some public services, it is just that the Nationalised bodies are not from the UK. DB rail franchises is Deutsche Bahn the German equivalent of British Rail and EDF is Electricite de France the French equivalent of the Electricity Board. Some of Europe decided to fix and sort out national assets rather than sell them off.

Which takes any profits out of the UK. Mental

All profits should be reinvested into the network / grid

Before covid all tfl profits (of which there were plenty) went back into the network for upgrades

Just what public money should do provide for the public
