I wouldn't think the fact Tom Watson made the largest WR leap since records began (from 1374th to 105th) will rock him off to sleep tonight but my question is are the World Rankings a good system or not......if he had won he would have gone from 1374th to 45th in the world :eek:...surely the system is flawed somehow? :D
 
I guess for deciding fields in WCG events there has to be a unified structure and so they perform a function to that extent. You could never do it on prize money as the USPGA play for significantly bigger purses.

I'm not sure how much stock a lot of players put on rankings unless you are around the top 50 or 60 or whatever the cut off is for some of these events. Most guys want to be the best they can anyway and by playing well and performing regularly the rankings take care of themselves.
