Putting is defintely the weakest part of my game at present. Am playing and scoring well, but it would be so much better if I wasn't missing 4-5 foot putts on a regular basis.

Looking for someone who keeps it simple, recommendations please!

4 to 5 foot putts are no gimmes...

How many hours are you spending practicing?

You might find a video but that won't tell you what your putter is doing, where you're aiming etc etc.

Very few, which I know is the wrong answer.

But I think it's a pretty fundamental flaw - when I'm having a practice before hitting a putt, I'm aware the putter is waving about like a washing line in a gale force wind! I reckon my problem is with the stroke itself rather than aim.

Have a look at the skillet app. Online coaching which you just upload a couple videos to your selected coach and they get back to you with an analysis and drills. Loads of coaches from around the world to choose from, from coaches to the pros to just your regular club pro. Just find someone at the right price for you.

Just downloaded the app, and as soon as I clicked open, a message flashed up saying something about payment authorised - surely there isn't a charge just for downloading the app?

First of all I am a great believer in you only get out what you put in so I would advise the OP to find a way to start practising 3-6 footers. I have some good practice aids for when I can get onto the putting green at the club especially a hole reducer (https://www.amazon.co.uk/PUTT-PUTTING-TRAINING-AID-REDUCER/dp/B000FFYITO). I am also a big fan of the Visio putting template and gates (relatively expensive and lucky to have got it for Christmas).

I like Danny Maude as well. Not watched his putting but his short game series has changed my approach and working and so I have no doubts his simple approach will help the OP with his putting

I like Danny Maudes teaching style.
Check him out on YouTube.

Yeah, I've watched a few of his videos (not putting). I like how he explains things.

Checked out his putting video and also Brad Faxon. Danny says keep everything still apart from the hands, Brad says move the knees and torso! Either way, both techniques look a lot better than mine.

Lol. Everyone finds a way.
Two of the best putters on tour are rickie and spieth. So you'd think everyone would look like them...
Rickie has his feet really close together - lots of people advocate a widish stable stance.
Spieth is left below right
No-one really looks like either, and they are as unlike each other as you could find.

I would recommend finding a Sam putt qualified putting coach. My putting sounds like it was a bit like yours in that to my eye the back swing was all over the place which meant that even the shortest of putts was a challenge but since I had my Sam putt test/lesson things have improved immensely, I am so much more confident in my putting and it was simple things that improved it, standing closer to the ball seems to have helped create a smooth pendulum type motion, working out what is your dominant eye and having that eye over the ball which meant I now line the ball up from approx my left heel instead of the middle of my stance, these very simple steps have greatly improved my Putting and although they are simple changes, I would never have put them into play without that Sam putt session.

cheers, John

get a lesson, makes a massive difference. The best in the NE is Andy Paisley at Hexham, coaches some euro tour players and specialises in putting. Nice guy too. Think he charged me about 30 for an hour.
