Watched an interesting ranking review on YouTube so what would you have?

FILMS
1. You only live twice
2. Skyfall
3. Licence to kill
4. Goldfinger
5. The man with the golden gun.
The three worst - A view to a kill, Die another day, the abomination that starred Lazenby

BONDS
1. Connery
2. Craig
3. Dalton
4. Moore
5. Brosnan
then a massive gap including anyone who ever plays the role again
6. Lazenby.

And for best villain, if only Alan Rickman could have combined his Hans Gruber with his Sheriff of Nottingham ....

Lazenby was good.

I have only rated him 1 because he was a on shot wonder..If he had the range of moores he would be higher

I've rated Dalton 2nd even though he did only 2 because I felt he is how bond should be. Gritty but charming. Daniel Craig before the world knew him

Great thread!

I think Connery’s Bond movies are underrated. For their day, and even today, they were brilliant. Best Connery; I can’t separate Goldfinger and Thunderball.

For humour; Moore’s You only live Twice.

If I had to choose an out and out favourite; Craig’s Casino Royale.

Surprised no one mentioned David Niven as Bond…

Much as Connerys bond was a classic in his day now it's very painful watching,

His overpowered 1 punch knockouts

His basically sexually abusing women (no no no, yes yes yes)

In your opinion. It’s escapism, and not to be taken seriously.

Good point. Was Moore a real Bond in the way Fleming portrayed him or was Moore a spoof? Definitely a different sort of Bond…
Niven was a definite spoof.

Moore played seriously but with humour in there. Definitely different to Connery, and to Fleming's vision, but still a Bond at heart.

I have a soft spot for Roger Moore's Bond. He was my Bond growing up, as Tom Baker was my Doctor. That doesn't always lead to rational answers of course ?

Very true and I still enjoy watching his films, just sometimes uncomfortable viewing now compared to back then.
I think if you watch those films, and pretty much most films made in the 50's and beyond, then you will spoil them all by judging by today's standards. Watch and enjoy for what they are and accept when they were made values were very different.

Very wise words

I'm sure in 20 years today's films will be too risky

1. Connery.
2. All the rest.

Best film: Diamonds Are Forever.
Connery just seems to be having a blast throughout. The line he says to Plenty OToole. Shirley Bassey singing the theme song. Brilliant. Great entertainment.

I think all the films are spoof, farce or whatever. Nowt wrong with that.

We sang YOLT a Connery Bond?

I contemplated Niven, but would also have had to include all the other “Bonds” in CR in that case. and Little Jimmy Bond of course!
