Quick question about windfarms

A couple of years ago I was looking at the beauty that is the 1st on the Kings course at Gleneagles and what drew my attention was ugly wind turbines on the hills in the distance- if any were put in the wrong place .........

I take your point but, if you travel a bit further north, there are a hell of a lot more beautiful places in Scotland than the 1st Tee at Gleneagles.

Hundreds of them up here on the Cumbrian coast and they are hideous. Don't work when they are needed as it is either too windy or as happened during a long term cold spell a few years back they didn't work for weeks as there was no wind at all.

Went to the local zoo a few months back they have one in the car park, it really did make a racket. There is no way I would want to live in the shadow of one. A constant flicking shadow over your home to go with the constant drone.

I did look into it once and I think the Siemens ones were around 3.7MW so long as they produce that regularly that is a good lump of energy, however they do have to be spun when no wind and must lump some carbon out in manufacture and installation but from this point so does any power station or generator.

I read that some British engineer designed the upright one which is more efficient but is not funded or manufactured by a large organisation hence lack of production and ability to supply. No issue with these offshore but I gather they are not so keen on the salt water, who'd of though that hey.
