I have a diesel Citroen C5 and I have decided I want the diesel particulate filter (DPF) removed and bypassed as it has caused no end of problems and is a fortune to clean and/or replace.
Can anyone recommend one of the miriad of online sellers promising to do this properly or know of anyone in the Scottish Borders/Lothian region that can do this and reset the ECU etc correctly, all for a reasonable price and quickly?

And no I don't have an ethical problem with putting a couple of extra soot particles into the atmos, I arrange planting of trees for a living so my carbon footprint is tiny and my conscience clear!:smirk:

Take it for a frequent motorway journey...no problems then

Doesn't work, runs on the A1 dual carriageway 5 or 6 days a week. Have also tried running it at 4000rpm in 3rd for twenty minutes but that didn't work either.

do you get the car regularly serviced? and if so do they look at the dpf, ive heard of garages not knowing there is a dpf and it cost a lot to fix

the dpf's do seem to be a bit of voodoo - some require fluid (fords/psa's) at 80000 miles or so.

You can get them set to start a regen cycle - if it's getting blocked it might be worth asking a garage to set it for you (TBH might need to be main dealer, with the BMW it can only be done in INPA)

The only reason i could see it failing an MOT without a DPF would be on emissions - but i don't have any experience on this (mine was an '06 which you could spec without the DPF)

Welcome to the world of diesels, DMF, DPG, turbos, injectors = massive pain!

i thought i read somewhere if its was on the vehicle when new then it would fail its mot if it wasnt on it, if that makes sense

Citroen DPFs are problematic. Removing it wont fail the MOT as some models with the same engine wont have a DPF. You would need to replace the section thst contains the DPF though as IIRC its either in place and working or its not there at all (if that makes sense).

Regen is best bet in the immediate term. I have Tech2 for VX motors and have done several regens on the imfamous Vectra DPF that blocked at the drop of a boot.

I think the OP has given up on the idea of regenerating the DPF ... he wants to know does anyone on hre know ... where he can get the DPF removed , a pipe inserted in place of it & the ECU recoded so as it still reads its there ,

have a peek at carpartsgiant.co.uk i found it on a search of dpf bypass scottish borders & it came up via gumtree......... im in ireland & have no link to or knowledge of the company by the way mate
