Putts Per Round

For putts per round, make sure it's under 36.

If it's over 36 then it's costing you more shots than it needs too.

If your chipping and approach play get better it can be lower.

Just don't take more than 2 a hole!

I have been thinking about this recently.

If you nail everything from 3 foot and inside.

50% putt rate for 4 foot to 8 foot.

Then 100% 2 putt everything else.

Then see what your score is at the end of round. I have typically had 2 or 3 3 putts per round. I realised these were coming from GIRs as I was leaving myself 30+ foot putts.

Not sure how many of us will nail everything from 3 foot and inside? That will drop significantly from 4-8 feet for handicap golfers.

Really good points.

OK you will never hole every 3 footer but i'm always very disappointed when I miss one.

Getting a long putt in is always a bonus, lately I have been getting a bit disappointed missing 4-6 footers but I do know I will never hole them all from there, but it sure does help the score.
