Always use my putter head cover but have noticed recently that I seem to be one of the few that does. Is there a need for it or are they just cosmetic. Have a new Rife Putter and dont want it damaged will leaving it off get it damaged?

I use mine unless it falls off!
Can't see the point in paying £XXX for a putter and then leaving it to clatter about the bag.

Depends on the bag you're using, with a putter-well or even one of the internal 14 dividers it may be able to sit snugly without touching other clubs or moving about, if so you don't need a cover.

Some of the headcovers for mallets especially are awkward for getting on and off.

Think some folks like to see and maybe others to see the brand and/or model putter they're using! :D

I keep mine on not only to protect the putter itself but also to protect the ther clubs in my bag. A few putters that I have owned (the Ping UGLE especially) have a number of pointy bits on them and putting the cover on stops me claterring them against my nice shiny woods.

I don't use one, but i have an old white hot putter from like 2002 or something along those lines. If I had one I probably would use one, but I lost it.

Got Powakaddy bag with external putter holder so the cover comes off before round and back on at end. The Odyssey Teron looks more like a branding iron so when carrying I need the cover to protect me rather than the putter. I've never bothered with any other putter, waste of time.

Used to use mine but not any more, my bag has a 7 way devider and my putter sits nicely behind my woods so no clatter, only use it for when it's in the boot

So its knocking holes in the shaft of your driver now :)

Nope, the devider at the back has a higher lip to protect it from every other shaft, plus all my woods have long head covers which cover the shaft. ;)

I have a 14-way divider bag and a Rife putter but the headcover is so big it just takes up too much space.

besides after picking it up half a dozen times when it has fallen off, or having to do the walk of shame when you forget it . . .

I have one on my xg and it doesn't interfer with my game. I did also have one on all my clubs as I too hate the clatter of the clubs while walking along! These though got binned as it drove me mad taking them off and putting back after every shot! I put up with the clatter now, just driver, hybrid and putter have covers now! I also lost my sw cover during a round!
