Monthly medal today. Lovely sunny day but a bit of a breeze. I had a lesson on Thursday and chopped it round in the roll up yesterday so confidence not high. Going great guns until a lost ball at the 7th cost a double. Pulled tee shot and the second hit a tree and no-one saw where it shot off to.

Couple over handicap at the turn. Started the back nine well until 14. Chucked in a nice treble. Hooked tee shot into thick rubbish. No real option to drop backwards as the position I was in would have taken me down 15 and into all the heavy rough protecting the left of that fairway. First hack moved it a few feet and third came out but i was still 250+ out. Played the last four +1 gross. Turns out CSS was 72 and I finished +1 - 71 (nett)

The downside is I got done on countback AGAIN. Third time this has happended now in last six months. On the positive side (and I'm glass half full this year) it's another cut. It is proof positive stuff we worked on in the lesson on Thursday was sound and that the swing is progressing. Annoyed that I wasted a few shots and saving one anywhere would have made the difference. Putted badly for the second day running which is gutting as that is a strong suit.

All in all though I'm a happy Homer. The swing doesn't feel right yet so there is much more in the tank and the short game and putting need some attention which I'll put in this week but we're inching closer to my goal of 10. Hurrah went the crowd

It's all sounding very good homer. It's hard to pat yourself on the back when you know that your current program is still a work in progress but you should and sort of have. Nice to have a cut!

In keeping with your post title I would say the same about myself. It has been pointed out to me that I am an ok golfer who is crap at scoring, IE my shot making is better than the numbers. I worked on this today and only had one blob. 35 points was not satisfying as last I played I made 37 points with 3 blobs but I can take home two less blobs today and I have to take that as a positive.

Loving it. Only been using it since December 16th and it has transformed my game. It's funny how I feel I've come so far in such a short space of time since the first meeting with my new teaching pro and yet I don't really feel I've had to make huge changes at all. What I have done seems to have been very natural and easily assembled. It is working for the most part on the course and when it does go wrong I know the causes and can usually find a band-aid fix of sorts to get the ball round.

Its been great for me as i practically have no back pain at all since swinging on one plane.

Can someone enlighten me. Most likely a daft question? What is a one plane swing? Because I can't see it. Your body turns on one plane. Then your arms turn on another. Also the backswing and the downswing both move on different planes? I'm confused??? But very well done Homer. Can't get use to the glass half full Homer though.

Thanks for the link. Will have a good look at that tomorrow. Can see what they mean from those pics on the home page. Think I swing like that now. But will read and find out. Thanks again. Anything to make this "Damn game easier eh".

Nice one Martin
'Fraid my lessons are messing me up at the moment. Hit 4 double bogeys to come in with a net 75. Trying to arrange a playing lesson with Jamie this week. I reckon I'm gonna be struggling for a couple of months. Can't even play my 'old swing' now (because it feels so wrong) and am struggling with the new one big time. Good to see you're still getting cut.

Get yourself over to the Downshire and see Rhys ap Iolo. Top teacher and he'll get you on track in no time. I'm just gutted I lost a ball on 7 and then chucked in a triple bogey 7 at 14 to chuck it away. Can't believe CSS was 72. Didn't seem that difficult out there.
