Pre shot routine

Pray tell exactly which part was 'arrogant'.....IMO one should be ready to take a shot, glove should be on before a club is pulled from the bag pre shot fannying around routine or not,as I say no wonder we have slow play.

I think that I'll get some lessons and learn to get set up and swing the club properly and consistently before venturing into the esoteric are of pre-shot routines

Plus Homer looking for his ball adds quite a bit to the time as well
:D ;)

"Warning shots being released", arrogant in my book.
As Homer said in his OP, "Sounds long winded, but only takes seconds", or words to that effect.

Golfmmad.

OK, fair point, but there are many more and worse examples of slow play. I do think though, that the vast majority of forummers on here are probably well aware and not culprits of slow play.

And people wonder why we have slow play!A practice swing THEN put the glove on??!! Glad you don't play in front of me,be a few warning shots being released if you did fannying about with all that.

I love playing people who get easily annoyed by nonsense, I would do it deliberately if I knew they did as it is far less threatening or damaging than deliberately hitting a ball at someone:rolleyes: It does not matter at all what golfers do, so long as they do not take a rediculous ammount of time to do it. Im sure someone could do a swing or two then pop a glove on and have a whack in no more or less time, than someone who has a couple of swings then steps back to check the ball line up then smack it (a very very common practice from beginner to pro) Tell me Dodger, how many times have you actually deliberately hit a ball in the direction of someone, I would love to know? Just imagine one day, you hit a ball that accidentally hits and kills someone, would your reputation for deliberately hitting them at people come along and haunt you?

Methinks its just bravado eh Dodger? ;)

That's all a preshot routine is there for. If you can do it without any fannying about, then job done.

Me, I spend more and more time just making sure I'm aiming down the correct fairway.

Don't have one as such , check the distance on the sprinker when walking to my ball ,know what club to hit, quick look , then hit it ,simples.
Theres to much fannying about in this game, glove of,glove on ,lot of rubbish thats why the games to slow ,its meant to be exercise.

Golf isn't exercise. It is meant to be fun, not exercise. Running is exercise (but not fun).

Maybe where you come from mate but up here we treat it as exercise. Its fun when you play at a good pace not taking 5 hours to get round thats a slog not fun

Its normally 4 hours or less for a Saturday morning fourball at peak time so I think the spped of play is more tha acceptable. In competitions 3 ball medals will be round in four hours even allowing for some members reloading, hitting provisionals and searching for balls. Again not a probelm.

Even if you get round in 2 hours, that is walking at 3 miles an hour for 2 hours. Where is the raised heart beat? Nope, that is a stroll, and that would be playing quickly. Played over 3 1/2 hours, no way does that qualify as exercise.
