Potential New Club

Well, on Thursday I'm off to scout out a potential new club near me. You may remember my concerns about my current one going bust so the time is right. Also, i've been playing there regularly for 15 years and its getting a bit tedious so I need a new challenge.

The Finance Dept (HID) has ok'd the idea so I'm off for a round with a couple of mates thursday to see if it fits the bill.

One thing I like is that apart from no joining fee, you can pay by DD and at any time you can cancel it and cease to be a member. Good if circumstances change suddenly.

At 6612 and par 72 (SSS 72) its longer and more difficult than my current club and there are 500+ members. Better than 100 or so!!

Not played there, but 500 members sounds a good number, (bound to be a few good uns in 500).

I have played there and its a really nice course, they have some great holes especially 13.

Hope it all goes well. If I was you I'd check on things like whether competitions are drawn as others on here have found it hard when joining new clubs to break into well acquainted cliques and have struggled to get games in medals and monthly stablefords.

Popped in today to have a look round and had a nice chat with the Secretary. Gave me a guided tour, ran me through all the bits and bobs and answered all my questions.

The medals are all drawn, there is no booking of the tee - you just turn up and join in and the fees are only going up £20 on 1st Feb.

Going for a game there Thursday and if I keep my green fee ticket they'll take it off the fees - its all looking good.
