I know it was only a friendly but what I am asking is;

Are England better now than they were with McLaren?

Is it time for him to get a nudge and if so who should be England manager?

I don't get him. He looks like a fraud who can't believe he hasn't been found out yet. Why did he bring Smalling into the team when he has hardly kicked a ball. Where did his scouts watch him play? Man U training pitch?

I'm not completely sold on him, HOWEVER he has done what other England managers refused to do, and that's select younger talent.

I don't agree with selecting yougn talent for young talent's sake, but I do agree at getting talented youngsters experience at international level before big tournaments.

We looked *ok* at times last night, but nowhere near world beaters. There's alot of work to do, but essentially we are rebuilding at international level. The sooner we can get young, hungry, talented players playing for our country instead of players being picked on their reputation alone and NOT performing (Fat Frank, I'm looking directly at you)...the sooner we will become a team that will contend for the World Cup and European Championship.

England are now a second rate football nation its simple, you guys down south might not like it but its true.

Take France as the example they had a shocking World Cup,what did they do they replaced the manager with Lauren Blanc someone who was a great player one of Les Blue who had great start as a manager with Bordeaux he stripped the way they play back to basics which is pass and move.He brought confidence back in the team after watching last nights game England played prehestoric football kick and rush. Nasri and Malouda ran midfield over running the vastly over rated Barry and Milner, the young guy Henderson a good prospect but was caught in the lights, sorry England its time to wake up and realise you ain't that good.

Cappelo has kept his job basically because you cant afford to get rid of him before 2012 no luck your stuck with "Prat in the Hat"

Thats why he has had to play a few guys we've never heard of before. It's not as if the BIG teams in England are over flowing with English super stars.............
Scrapeing the barrel, me thinks...........

Trouble is, no englishman wants the job now because of the stigma and expectation attached to it. :(

The job should be offered to Harry Rednapp and, as far as I know, he has indicated that he would love to do it

Can you name one?

(PS if you reply Harry "wheeler dealer" Redknapp you haven't applied the first criteria)

If you apply the first criteria you won't find a manager anywhere in the world - but it's not a crieria I would worry about - sucess is the important factor

Stuart Pearce. Managing the u21's now and will undoubtedly instill a bit of a defensive back and midfield, but perhaps him and a couple of agressive asst coaches could get the entire team playing as a flowing positive team, one day maybe even able to beat Our Wee Country!

How any manager can make winning team out of that bunch of 'ossers is beyond me! I'd take the job for the money but let's all be honest here you aint getting any glory from it.

We basically put out an untried, young and inexperienced team with several players being asked to fill in out of position. Yes the French dominated play and yes their pass and move did show the "recognised" players (Gerrard, Milner etc) to be a yard off the pace. However they didn't pepper the goal all night and for a lot of the time their pretty approach play was snuffed out.

We were short of ideas (AGAIN) and the plan seemed to be hoof it to Carroll and then see what happens. It was only when the wider players got involved in the 10 minutes either side of the break that we looked a match for them. Had we had a decent front line (Defoe, Bent, Rooney etc) with a bit of speed then we would have posed more of a threat. At the moment we are doing ok in qualification and that is all the manager shoudl be judged on. It's all about getting to finals and then doing well (we seem to have got 50% of the plan sussed) and that friendlies are nothing other than glorified training matches. I don't think it is time to hit the panic button just yet

Its not a lack of good players thats your problem, most of the footballing world can see that.

Its your lack of commitment and passion, and you aint gonna get any from a foreign manager.

Who's going to be up for that seeing as England forwards couldn't hit a cow up the arse with a banjo!

And therein lies the problem. Clubs put pressure on players and the manager (Scotland's the same) not to go in for any heavy tackles and to take it essy and so all these games lack any cohesion or replicate a competitive match in terms of committment and effort.

The strikers England put out will never regularly get a start if the main four or five are fit. Even Crouch will get the nod ahead of Carroll.

Bottom line is the players aren't interested, the management can't win in the eyes of the press and fans and there is nothing tactically achieved. A waste of time and effort and an afront to fans who fork out hefty prices for a ticket to a no show.
