Preston 4 - Swindon 0

Swindon apparently had 67% of possession, but obviously Preston were more productive.

Has tippy tappy football now had it's day?

PS I didi not watch the game so appologise to Preston fans if my headline make your team out to be a hoofball team, which I'm sure it's not, and I did not intend to convey. But, you cannot deny that they MUST be lot more positive with the ball.

Tippy tappy football worked for Spain and Barcelona because they produced an end product. Who cares how much of the ball you have if you are a team of donkeys in the final third.

And Barcelona were quick to realise that they needed to move on from tiki-taka.

Didnt Liverpool have 55% possession against Stoke or something yesterday ..

Results not stats , same a GIR , FIR etc in golf ..

They could have had 95% and only lost 3-1

I think there is still a time and place for possession football and Spain in particular use it to devastating effect because they have an end product more often than not.

The best teams have played possession football since the game began. Funnily enough they've managed to combine it with an up and at em attitude.

They're just clever enough to know when to switch between the two. :)

I was in the East End for quite a period yesterday. There was great joy (not from me I hasten to add) that Big Sam and West Ham are parting! I've no problem with teams playing to their strengths - if that's what gets them wins! Even Chelsea has played some pretty dour, but winning, football this year!
