As the credit crunch continues to bite and clubs are struggling to keep members and visitors, why do they not make a bit more effort with their web sites.
I know this has been covered before about no pictures etc but.......and here's my real gripe.............
Why do all the pictures that are shown that include golfers, have to be seniors.
It looks as if the only people who play golf these days are all over 60, have those little buggies or electric trolleys.
Come on guys, show the younger generations and juniors playing golf and having fun. It might even attract more young people to your club.

The only reason I could come up with for seniors being in most pictures is that if they hire a professional photographer to take the snaps they tend to work weekdays and even if they use a club member, its because it tends to be the seniors (and women) who frequent the course during the week.

Spot on Bob.

I've taken better pictures than some I've seen and there are *so* many websites that have just rung the NO bell in my head.

Every course, no matter how basic/new/unimpressive ought to have a few good views and interesting corners.....

How hard can it be?

I totaly agree Bob.

I think my clubs website looks very old fashioned, and could do with a compleate overhaul. The photo's don't do it justice, and it reads very old school.

We have 80 juniors on the books, so we are lucky in that respect. But I do think the website needs to come into the 21 century.

I have to say RA have just revamped their website and its a million times better than the very formal version that proceeded it. This one has some decent pictures and the information is presented in a much more user friendly way. Good job by the club.

Agree 100%

However, having spent most of last summer looking at Golf Club websites throughout the UK, there are some absolute SHOCKERS out there, the names of which I shall keep to myself.... :-o

Doing webs for local companies is my thing. Most businesses are all for getting on the web. Golf courses just do not act like businesses to me though. Sorry most golf courses dont.

There are a few of the big ones are very corperate but I digress.

We are nearly getting there to the day when the internet will be the ONLY medium. Television will go that way in a few years, believe me.

I just cant see how any business expects to survive, especially one that sells a non essential high end item, when time get tough.

The industry is definately with the times, look at the technology put in by the main club makers.

Its just the small courses that are stuck 30/40 years ago. But that is all most people actually come into contact with. Sad.

golf is more about word of mouth than websites.

OK, I know where you are coming from, but I often look for courses in areas I'm going to (and have no idea at all) and just scrub out those that look awful!

This website is way out in front in my area....

Is it coincidence that this club gets more visitors than the others?

Logically, 2 or 3 pairs or fourballs extra per day could bring in much needed cash for private clubs.
£200 per day. £1,000 per week, £52,000 a year....that'll pay for some staff/equipment.....
