Last Saturday I played in a club B team match, we won it on 18 after going 3 down after 4, going back to two up, back to A/S then winning +2. I had a busy week at work and only got to play twice, once was a 7 hole playing lesson which I hit it beautifully, the other 9 holes at a pay and play with some people from work. I shot 66 on the par 30, lost 7 balls and hit a lot out the hosel or wildly hooked.

I then nervously played the B team match I was committed to playing in today. I had two birdies and lipped out on about another 4 putts for them, tapping in for par. We went one up on the first and was never down the entire match, winning 4 & 2. I almost had a hole in one, pitching a towering 5 iron just 4 inches from the cup and rolling out to 6 feet. I missed only 2 fairways and drove 290 yards uphill into the wind on one hole! My partner and opponents were all very complimentary about my approach play and mid irons as well as my putting and long game.

That really is polar golf, from high to low to high all in the space of just 8 days!

36 over par for 9 on a farmers field pay and play on Wednesday..

Today on a proper 18 hole course I was (in matchplay terms) about 8 or 9 over gross for the whole thing, probably only 18 shots more than it took to negotiate just 9 three days before

Work that one out

Or even in the space of 18 holes - 43 out - 58 back today ....Doh!!

I think I relaxed a bit too much after the beers in the clubhouse kicked in half way round :D
