I'm due to get a new phone soon as my contract runs out. having had a look around i reckon i'm going to quit my current contract and go for one of the other lot who seem to be pretty desperate for customers going by some of the deals out there.

One such deal is a free playstation 3 for not very much money. it is a 18 month contract, but that's what i'm on now and the phone i have is still in perfect working order so i'll just keep the new one until i need it.

Anyway, anyone here got a PS3 and play tiger woods on it? Is it worth an extra £5 a month and getting a PS3 for?

Also, are Blueray films still pretty expensive or are there cheap options out there?

I've got a PS3 and it's nothing short of awsome. That said I can't say that Tiger Woods is the best game i've played, it's OK for the first few days of gameplay but after that it becomes monotonous, but thats just me.

Its a tremendous piece of kit. I reckon I use maybe 10% of its capability.

My brother-in-law uses it as a media player, through his hi-fi wired up to tv, he uses it as a web browser (dunno how - I can't seem to figure it out), its handy for viewing and editing photos, videos etc

And the games are tremendous. TW is a good one, but get used to american kids getting round in 48 and other such nonsense scores. The driving and shooting games are phenomenal. I'm a bit too old to really get excited by such things, but I do love playing Call of Duty etc

great piece of kit. There won't be a ps4 out for ages so its worth the money. Media player is good, gameplay is good (i think tw 2009 is good fun actually) but the web browser is pretty slow. I say GO FOR IT! :D

I've had a ps3 since just after they first came out...love it to bits, although I barely scratch at the surface of what it is capable of.
I use mine as the "hub" of my home entertainment system, mainly for playing Blu rays and DVD's.
Blu Ray playback is awesome, as good as some stand alone players, and it upscales standard DVD's to near HD quality too. I have a few games for it but find the online experience with the 360 to be better, so most of my games are for that.
Regular updates of the firmware for the PS3 keep it right up there and these are painless to do.
If you are going to use it as a Blu ray or DVD player make sure that you buy the optional remote controller specifically made for it. You can use the hand controller that comes with the console but it's a pain in the arse.
The only thing I don't like about the ps3 is because it operates by bluetooth, my All in one remote won't control it, but that's a minor point.

Game is terific, TW10 is out next month.

One problem I have with the game though is the player reactions.

Club throwing and general bad etiquete.

I know it is only a game but this will the first experience many kids have of the game and may take this behaviour onto the course.

Mitch - in what way is the xbox better? How are graphics and everything better?

There are actually slightly better deals with the Xbox so i'm open to persuasion. Although the PS3 would only work out at £120 over the term of the phone contract as opposed to about £100 for the Xbox.

The major benefit i can see with the PS3 is the blueray dvd playing ability.

Agreed the blueray capability is a major plus. I would go with the PS3 if I were you, Mitch is wrong. Despite it obviously being dependent on your tv set up, cabling etc on paper the graphic specification for the playstation is better than the 360. I have the latter and it is a great console but I bought it before the release of the PS3- If I were in the market for one now I would definitely go with the PS3 having had a good deal of experience with both

I hope this doesn't turn it to another PS3 vs 360 Flame War as I have seen on loads of other forums as soon as the "Which one is better" question pops up.

I have only got a 360, but I will ask one question Slugger. What do you want the PS3 for? Are you looking to play games, watch movies or both?

If you want if for movies and games then the PS3 is the better option as you get a very good Blue Ray player and a good games console (even though the game coice in some cases can be limited).

If you want a pure game machine, then I would recommend the 360. Yes Graphically they are on a par, but there are more games available and coming out for the 360 in the next 18 months, and overall it is just a better Online and Gaming Experience (LIVE is just that bit better) IMHO. Plus you have a better reward system.

It sounds a good deal, but what about saving yourself more money. I was due an upgrad a few months back and decided to ask them what deals thay had without a new phone, well I could not beleive it, I now pay £10 a month with 500 mins and 100 text, this is instead of 200mins and 200text for £30 a month.

I have the PS3, TW09 is very good, though am ready for TG10 now. I play Grid Race driver a lot, as just fantastic Graphics as is HD. Use for Internet, Photos, BluRay and DVD's. I am waiting for the download of films, if ever comes over here, save using sky.

I had the XBox 360, will admit to one thing I miss on that HALO......though that is all :)

Because i'm not going to miss £5 a month... that's an unfair question when you go and tell me all the good things about the PS3 straight after :)

Going for the LG Viewty on o2 with 600 mins and unlimited texts per month and free PS3 for £25/month.
