Yes! I finally took the plunge today and got fitted for a newset of irons. I wanted a set of G10's but in the end bit the bullet and purchased aset of G20's 5-SW for £440 from AG.
Got some extras thrown in too (Del Boy) a glove, ball marking pens, a club cleaner and a years insurance.

So my yellow dots are on their way to me and should be here in the next 5-10 days! Cant wait, and it looks like I'l be playing my last round with my trusty Hippo oversizes this Saturday.

Anyone else tried out the G20's yet or already use them?

If I cant break 100 with these by Crimbo I'l be putting them on the for sale section of the forum and taking up snooker!

Nice one, you should really tell the difference although give yourself time to get used to them - don't get frustrated if it doesn't 'click' straight away.

Oh and I would ditch the 64 degree wedge, the SW should be more than enough loft for all your needs.....just my opinion!

Well the lie on a yellow dot is 1.5 degrees difference to my old irons, so its either going to be better instantly or worse, although I cant imagine my iron play currently being worse!

Was going to leave the 64 lob out of the bag too, I dont use it often enough to warrant dragging it around.

Anybody want to buy some Hippo irons :D

Might give them to my teenage brother-in-law, he wants to start playing.

What persuaded you to go for the G20s in the end. Was there an obvious difference in performance, or did you just prefer the look and feel to the G10s?

There wasn't a lot in it to be honest, I dont think I'm good enough to tell the difference between the two in feel, I hit them both pretty consistently, What did it for me was the feel of the club in your hands if that makes sense. They felt better balanced through the downswing, and I thought about the age of the g10's (2007?) and how technology has come on in that time.

That and the fact that i'd budgeted £500, so the difference in cost didnt affect my choice. I wanted amodern club that will last until I improve to apoint that I would need to upgrade, chap in the shop said the G20's could be used right down to a hc of 8, and I dont think I'l ever be that good enough to upgrade, these irons should last the rest of my golfing life.

God I'm sounding like a Ping fanboy already! :D

I had a look at them (G20) but wasn't overly impressed with the size of them (too big) but I am seriously considering the s56's and ping stuff in general as I keep hearing nothing but good reports about it.

I'm not a fan of thick soled irons either, originally I wanted the cg16 tours, first time I tried them they were great, tried them a few times since and couldn't hit them, they are of a similar size and difficult to hit as my hippos, so today I made the decision to go with the iron I could hit most consistently, regardless of looks and size.

Played 4 rounds now with my G20`s and i don`t think you will be disappointed with your purchase. I love them and can see them staying in the bag for many years to come.

So I played Saturday in a society, for potentially the last time with my old irons, and I came third!
Scored 34 playing off 28hc, went round in 102, a new personal best! Blobbed one hole which just went tits up, and my driving let me down but my iron play was the best it's ever been.

Really looking forward to playing with the pings now, low 90's by crimbo I reckon!
