Interesting, and while I agree to an extent I think the psychology of having to start on a Thursday effectively already in the lead makes it much harder for most people / players to play their best golf.

Also - why pre-determine that the gap will be 10 shots? Surely some years the top 30 players will have bigger spreads than in other years. Why not apportion 1 shot to x no. of points.
