Pesticides ban and effect on your greens

Well we will be out of the EU soon so expect we can ignore the ban :D

The biggest issue we have right now that is affecting hundreds of golf clubs is Badgers and them ripping up turf to find their food. We used to be able to spray the fairways to kill their food but that got banned under EU regs

austin lodge golf club near Sevenoaks had this issue and closed as they couldn't do anything about the badgers ripping the place to bits.

You are allowed to apply to act against the badgers if they are having an affect on your business. If it's proved that they causing your club to lose money then things can be done

Our 3rd fairway has been ripped to shreds by badgers. We can't shoot the badgers and we aren't allowed to use pesticides on the bugs they are after. First world problems but annoying none the less

Pretty crappy article and very old. No-one has been banning chemicals on golf courses - at least not specifically. Nor does it say what pesticides are to be withdrawn - which effectively renders the article meani gless

Over the past few years a whole variety of pesticides has been withdrawn from use - whether agriculture, turfculture or horticulture - but many still remain in use.

And if anyone thinks Brexit will change things on this front - think again. UK is highly unlikely to reverse pesticide withdrawals.

That was a very confused article.

On the one hand it was saying: "pesticide ban bad, because ruined greens.". But on the other it was saying: "greens made with pest-resistant grasses better anyway."

I think the take-out was that we should embrace pesticide-resistant grasses. So hurrah for EU pesticide ban.
