One only has to look at how many pension schemes are mismanaged. How many pensions end up going into the pension protection fund. This is one big banana skin. However this had gone on for years and years and companies have been allowed to not pay into pension schemes for years and years, yet still pay dividends on profitable? Companies.
Now whilst were talking about people being sent down. Wonder who will be sent down from the Government for robbing my pension scheme of Billions.

The firm i work for has not paid into our scheme for years despite raking in millions , now we have a deficit of a good few hundred million and we now have to pay more to stand still !!!
Luckily i am at the right end of things and should be done with them in a year or so if we last that long .

Company owners/directors should be on the hook personally. The fact that many take bonuses etc and are not directly accountable is wrong. (I speak as someone who has been a Director /chairman for a few). I'd include bankers and investors , in fact anyone /organisation that has benefitted from the fact the fund has not been kept fully paid up, as it was not their money to play with.

Strange, I always thought that austerity was caused by the dodgy American banking system.
It has nothing to do with austerity, more the labour chancellor of the time choosing to hammer the pension companies so he( Gordon Brown) could fund his public service expansions and expenses. The money I had put into my private pension was mine, hard earned and taxed paid upon.
As a labour voter I was sickened by the ease with which hard working, lay abiding tax payers trying to make some provision for themselves in their retirement years rather than burden the state were fleeced by a so called socially considerate government.
Does that answer fit your narrative?

What about the companies who seem to think its their money and use it to prop up the business?

I hope my company never get their hands on our pension fund.. run very well by the members right now let’s keep it that way until my retirement lol (28 years and counting)
