Pedham Place, Kent.

Anyone played there?
What's it like????
Yep, played there loads. I love it. Plays like an inland links course. Wispy and heavy rough, big bunkers, large greens. Some blind tee shots and some long holes if into the wind. Let me know when you're playing it, and I'll message you some tips and hints.
9 hole par 3 course is good too, and a very big driving range.

Played it twice, the first time when they allowed so many people out that we couldnt possible finish in daylight. Good course for a muni and very playable. It is close to the London Club and shares similar characteristics as well as views, in fact, Auburn warriors Redlibbetts is just down the road.

Good range facilty too and I think that the portacabins were about to be replaced with a clubhouse. As a muni it can be very slow, so, if going there, allow plenty of time for your round!

One final bit of good news is that there is a discount for (I think) over 55's - grab that Smiffy!

They have a clubhouse now, which is pretty good, I have to say. Mind you, anything would have been an improvement on those portacabins!

can only agree with whats been said,

An inland link course that due to its location can play difficult in the wind, has alot of doglegs so position can be key, and its normally in pretty good nick to. the range is pretty good, and they do a mean bacon butty, they was when the steel containers were there while the new clubhouse was built.

i like it.

Any other courses you havn't played Bob and don't know what they are like?

I feel a thread coming on

Chris

I just replied with the same effort that was used in the OP.
I expected at least a please or a thankyou from a man of his age and stature.
What a knob ;)

Didn't think of it like that - yes! what a knob!

Thank you Bob

Chris

Never played it, but a regular at the range which is one of the best in the area as it is easy to get too, cheap and never too busy. They also have 2 very decent practise putting greens that anyone can use.

The clubhouse is pretty smart and a lot better than the old portacabins!

Car park always pretty full, so guess the course is pretty busy which is never a bad sign.

Never heard of it but had a look and It seems great. I'm off for a few days next week so think I might get down there for a game.

Simon, if okay i will pick your brains about it Sunday whilst we are chasing the Turkey !!!!

Thank you all very much for the information.
The organiser of the trip to Turkey next May has arranged a get together for the 16 of us on the 9th January at this course and I had no idea what it was like.
Your input is much appreciated.

No probs, Scott! If I had any time to take, I'd join you, mate.

Played it twice a few years ago before the new clubhouse was built, not a course I would play all the time, but I liked it as its differant from most courses around that area,as others have said its more like a links course, the thing that sticks in the mind the most is the undulating fairways, not very often you have a flat lie to play off.

Hope you enjoy playing there and will be interesting to see what you think of it.

Scott, time for a review of Pedham, assuming you played? Think you got a windy day, so would love to know the score! ;)

Yeah played last Thursday mate, windy would be an understatement, the balls were moving on the greens and oscillating when teed up - most players chucked it in after 10/12 holes, we dug in and made it round....

Overall was anjoyable, i thought the course was in good nick, the greens wernt lighning but very true rolling, the wind took the ball offline more than any grren imperfections !!!

As a layout you would definately benefit from knowing your way around, on the 2nd I told the guys where to aim for, they hit straight, I hooked one miles left and ended up on the correct fairway - they didnt (ooops!!).

A few hole almost double back which was little strange butnow I know the trakc I would definitley go back on maybe a less windy day.

In the end I staggered around for a pretty dire 27 points. Not proud of that one!! (Still - more than you contributed at the turkey trot though lol)

Glad you enjoyed it, mate. It does help to know the layout, especially on 2, 5, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17.
I thought we agreed not to mention my performance in the Turkey Trot?!!?! ;)
