How can these people have so much cheek?

Had to pop into the local supermarket this afternoon and I couldn’t help notice that every car parked in the disabled bays was not showing a disabled badge, in fact II saw a few of them jump out of there 4 x 4’s as I queued up at the cash point and they looked in rude health.

The current Mrs 148 mother is a blue badge holder and was in a wheelchair after breaking her back and was always saying they can never get in a disabled spot.

I think these people should be shot, I just don’t get it.

People do not realise that the disabled spots are not just put closer to the supermarket door, but they have wider spots to account for people that need to get into wheelchairs and use walking frames. I always pray that these people that park in the disabled spots come out the their car one day and find a huge scratch down it, where someone in a wheelchair has had to use a standard spot next to them.

I have got into a few arguments with perfectly able bodied drivers over this. I think the supermarket has a responsibility to enforce the regulations. There seems to be enough of them loitering around yacking at customer services every time I go in. Sure it wouldn't take much to ask to see some evidence they are entitled to use a disabled bay

Easily solved.
A baseball bat to both knees & both ankles, then they'll be parking in the correct place .............. and I'm being serious!
I hate those people, no consideration at all, ignorant sods.

Slime.

Definitely one of the things that really winds me up.

It's bone idle laziness and there can never be an excuse IMO. Have had many a word with arrogant guys over it, used to be a regular thing to argue with someone about as the ex's dad is a wheelchair user as he has no use of his legs due an accident many years ago.

Since we split I don't see him but I do remember one occaision at a supermarket all the spaces were used and not a blue badge on display so we had to park in a space next to the disabled bays, as he was getting out of the car into his chair that we had to squeeze into the gap between the 2 cars he had cling on to roof of the offending cr in the disabled bay and heave himself along its roof to get into his chair but in doing so knocked off their wing mirror. By the time we'd done the shopping and returned the wing mirror and car it belonged to were long gone! There was a note under our windscreen wipers from the cars driver saying "sorry lesson learned wont park in a disabled bay again, I saw you struggling and was to ashamed to come to the car whilst you were there"

That incident really struck a chord with me that day and really highlighted why these spaces are needed. The ex father in law though meet complained once whilst struggling he just got on with it. I may not like the ex but still have a lot of time for her dad.

I've had run ins with selfish ignorant people in these bays, both my parents required a space and I always think of the hardship they had when all the bays were taken, especially with young neds who were stopping there with neddette GF or wife in tow.

The supermarkets need to do more for their disabled customers and not leave it up to members of the public who can quite easily get into a violent confrontation with some of these neanderthal pillocks of our community

I just park behind them, in my 22 year old 4x4. :D When the driver announces that "OI! YOU CAN'T PARK THERE!" I simply reply "Neither can you mate" and head in to the shop.

It's not all 4x4 drivers - it's the mentality of the person. As a motorcyclist I hate it when I see cars parked in the bays marked for "Motorcycles Only". They're rarely 4x4 drivers either - just mindless cretins who think they can park where they like.

Point in question.

Whilst I entirely agree with Patrick in that 'abusers' should be shot...

Think the supermarkets could help by enlarging their 'standard' parking bays... Cars, in general, have got wider [not just 4x4's] and parking spaces have remained narrow... We shop occasionally at Costco where all the parking bays are of a decent size... Though there are still some that can't fit their cars in properly...

HID in a previous job worked with adults with varying disabilites, she would drive the people carryer and on one occasion she was pipped to a disabled parking bay by another car, as she waited, this person got out the car and started to walk off, without thinking she wound the window down and said

"Hoy numb nuts as you've pinched my parking spot, do you want the disabilty to go with it?"

Another one a colleague told me. Him and his HID were out shopping and went to pull into a mother and baby spot, they had two toddlers in the back, when another lady got the spot ahead of them, as she got out of her car and walked off, my mates missus shouts at her.

"excuse me, you've forgot something", the lady turned around puzzled, "your <expletive> kids"

Disabled parking slots are required, no question. Mother and Child ones are pushing it a bit IMO, why should healthy young people and children have a problem walking. OK, I know they have all the baby paraphernalia to get in and out but, Hey Ho, that's what comes with having kids.

to be fair in response, i think it should be restricted further to parents/carers with babies in what i would call a baby seat. ie the whole think comes out of the car with the kid in. in a normal parking space, i can not open the door wide enough to get the seat out sometimes! i do see some parents take the Michael with parent and child spots with 10yr old kids etc..

fair comment, use should be restricted, but also should be for blue badges. you can one for obesity and those fatties could do with the walk :D

I'm not convinced it's laziness, more likely lack of consideration for other people.

Endemic of the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude that prevails through our society these days.

Unfortunately, supermarkets won't enforce the parking rules as they are scared they will lose custom.
