Opinions on these Iron Choices

The only person who can decide is yourself. In my opinion the S56 is a sexy looking little number. Their is absolutely no harm in going to an authorised Ping fitter now and getting C/F for the Pings.

As Ethan said earlier, getting the correct shaft is a huge factor in the c/f process.

From the belfry fitting they have recomended a Stiff NS Pro shaft. although it didn't say which series. My swing speed with my 6i is 89-90 mph. Which is comfortably in the stiff region.

Once (if) I decided on the s56's I will go and get CF for that club.

Is this figure different for the driver, as my swing speed is 89mph-90mph and they told me i need a regular shaft.

Yes, my driver is 103. I think once you get over about90-95 for a driver then you're getting into stiff shaft range.

6 iron speed is usually about 85% of driver speed. The driver is a lot longer, so the head covers more distance in a given arc.

89-90mph 6 iron is pretty quick and is definitely a stiff shaft.

89-90mph driver is very likely to be Regular.

Well, I ordered a set of Ping s56's with KBS Tour Stiff last week.

Took the 6 iron out and hit it, surprisingly, rather well. This club must have some of Ethan's magic substance sprinkled on it, because it's levels of forgiveness belies it looks.

Truely, I hit one towards the toe and all I lost was a bit of distance.

Amazing clubs, and hopefully time will tell if I've made a massive error. Watch this space to see my handicap head rapidly upwards, but I'll have fun getting there!! :)

Westy for what it's worth I'm surprised you didn't give the AP1s another go and haven't tried the AP2s. That said it sounds as though the S56s fit the bill for you so hope they behave while you retest over the next three weeks and beyond :)

I might give the AP2's another go. They have a fitting cart at my place so I might take the S56 and the AP2 out together and compare. I did like the feel of the AP2 when I hit a good one at the Belfry. But probably hit it the worst of all the clubs I tried.

Only trouble is if I get Ap2's my mate is going to mug me for em. He's in love with the clubs but can't quite afford them as he has a nipper on the way.

Lol. Well whatever you choose I hope they treat you well :D
