Note that even the best can shank - Dustin Johnstone on the 14th to go out of bounds. Not called that by the commentators - probably in case they jinxed the rest of the players!

It wasn't a shank it was more of a push or a fade (didn't see the shape of flight), shanks don't go 200 yards plus and was only off line by maybe 10 yards.

Looked like he tried to play a hook so it would run further onto the green and he ended up pushing it. Risky play that obviously didnt work. He was playing well so fair play for going for it but he shouldve been happy going for a birdie.

Agreed, no way that was a shank

I have to admit on hearing it and seeing it, I personally think he might have caught a tiny bit of the hozel.

What do I know, I only hit one a year.

It may have been a push but it went at an angle of at least 30 degrees off centre plus and I could not see any shape to it rather than ugly. And from where he was on the fairway I have no doubt he will have been kicking himself.

I tell you what had me worried.....Darren's iron to the 17th. He was set up miles right (low hooky one) and it nearly failed. Well, it did fail a bit!
Scary :D

On tv the angles get distorted too, ever notice on par threes etc that the greatly looks like it is flying miles right of the target? It's not actually, just a trick of the camera, an unintentional one too.
