Oops. The fakers got there first

are these replacing the X24 Hot's (just stopped a mate of mine buying a set of X24's off chinalink.com today - 180 quid a set). What's the supposed benefit of the plastic inserts then.

These are the new club names

RAZR X FORGED

RAZR X TOUR

RAZR HAWK

WHITE DAMASCUS (im thinking a putter?)

I'm guessing this one is the Hawk but there doesn't seem to any info on any of them yet.

Redistribution of weight. Well at least from what I've read!

Essentially, plastic weighs less than metal, and in trying to produce a forgiving set of irons the weight has to be postioned low and back of the club face. If the club was all metal, it would weigh to much (swing-weight). So in order to keep the overall weight down, plastic is used.

Some makers effectively 'cut' the metal from the top line for example and 're-position' it lower down. Giving a higher launching club. Well that's that theory as I understand it. Other areas where lighter materials, like plastic because it's cheap, might be used is in the toe area of an iron. There-by effectively making a draw biased club because of it's heel weighting.

The other reason, (again, as I understand it), is that plastic inserts are used to prevent vibration from mishit shots. Again something that a higher handicapper might appreciate. Anyone that has had 'stinging hands' after a mishit with a blade will know what this feels like.

This technology is generally used on beginner and super GI irons.

As I said. I'm trying to recall several articles on the matter, and after a bottle of rather nice red, I might be just slightly confused!

Thanks for that, i suppose if it works then it is worth the price tag, i can imagine quite a bit of R and D went into the design and playability of these. From your opinion do you think there is a great change from one product to replacement or is it just essentially baby steps with the design. Enjoy the red.

No uglier than ever other iron Callaway have put out and to be fair you could make a good guess at what a new callaway iron is going to look like before it comes out, although it would be harded to guess at what the lump of plastic stuck to it will look like
