Ofcom has announced that Channel 4 has breached its subtitle quota - apparently because of disruption by a fire at broadcast centre.
While, obviously, Disaster Recovery procedures seem to have been lacking/inadequate, my warped sense of humour immediately registered the irony that 'no information about the outage to viewers for 12 days'!
Almost ranks, for those who can remember IBM mainframe days, with the IT Helpdesk's daft action many years ago (pre Email), when asked why there'd been no notification that access to 'the computer' was now available, having been down for several hours, and the reply was 'Well, I sent a message out via TSO'! The delay cost several hundred hours of unnecessary 'downtime' and the recovery process was changed that afternoon - to a phone call to specific contacts!
