This is not your typical "which is the best ball" question.

My dilema is. As most of you know, I'm signed up for The Belfry trip in August and I'm a high h'capper with moments of pure inspiration and moments of utter madness! My short game is generally the strongest part of my game now.

The greens at The Belfry are going to be hard and fast compared to what I'm used to playing on. I play with mid priced balls, Trispeeds and E5+ generally.

Should I change to a 'softer' ball for The Belfrys greens, and if so, should I change sooner rather than later to get used to the different balls?

I lose on average 2 balls a round, and money is not freely available for an endless supply of Pro V1s or ZStars. I also think that with what's available in the mid price market, that I've got a reasonable ball already for my game now. I'm just concerned that they're not going to hold the greens at The Belfry.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Or am I just concerned about something that really doesn't and won't matter?

Cheers.

I think you need to play your own game, and not worry how the course will play. I really don't think the ball will make a substantial difference. If you hit it half decent, you will be fine. TBH, you are better with something you know, and additionally, if you are on the tee thinking if I lose this thats anoher £3, not a good swing thought. Could do more harm than good.

If you normally play with a particular ball, stick with it, it will be fine.

To be honest, yout Trispeeds and the like should play fine at the Belfry.
Don't forget, mostly we hit the ball short of the pin - we don't want it stopping! NXT Tours or the like will be fine.

I would get practice pro v1s or failing that get something like nike powersofts which I like. However your srixons shoould be fine really

Just play your own game, after all you may not get any advantage by changing. Today I played with a 10 h/c 11h/c and 8 h/c players, I had the cheapest and hardest balls and landed more greens and got closer with chips more often than they did using some very worthy balls,(greens were very hard today) so just play your own game and let everyone else make their balls work for them.

Played the Brabazon course last year, I used TriSpeed, I agree with most, play your own game, If I would have changed to Pro-V1's it would have cost me a fortune, as I am sure I lost a ball in the water holes bar 18th, not the 18th you say, well I did a second take of the Damn Busters on that hole :)

Use what you already use, you will be much better prep-ed for the game ;)

I was talking to the misses in reference to The Belfry Trip, will have to see if I can generate the funds, bit much £95 for the day, much better £195 for the 2 days of Golf........where to rob!!!!! :D

Jahmoo.

We deceided that the 2 day was better 'value' than the one day. The Mrs is coming to take advantage of the spa whilst I'm playing golf, and it'll be the first break for the two of us for 2.5 years since the eldest arrived!

It was one of my incentives to quit smoking.

HH , you'd be changing a major part of your game for just a single visit ( or however many rounds it is ) to a golf course . Would you ditch your basic car and buy an air conditioned model just because you were going to drive down to the south of France for a 2 week break ? ( it may seem like an extreme example but you get my drift )

The majority of your golfing rounds will be played on your home course - or at least courses you prob know - so stick with what you've got and know and if needs be , adapt on the day.

My Boy is 16 months old, so reason for the dilema, money at the moment is a bit shy, also not wanting to leave my partner alone too much, which by then I should not have been away from home with work.

2 day offer is best, but I will have to see if I can get some birthday money in early

Stick with the same ball :p
