Me and wor lass have a night out tonight, taxi booked for 20:15.

Tee time today was 15:15, easy normal round for the three of us on a Saturday is around 3.5hrs, normally a bit quicker, champion, be done by 19:00hrs at the latest, home in plenty of time for a bite to eat, line the beer belly before getting ready and out.

Double checked the tee time on BRS, only to find that the 3 ball in front of us are the slowest three players you have seen, two are low to mid teen handicappers and the third low single figures.

Problem is they all take the comp and their handicaps very seriously, none more so than the single figure handicapper, continental drift moves faster than these three once on the green, the single figure HC'er stalks the ball like a big game hunter, lining up, making micro adjustments, stepping back, checking more adjustments, it's painful to watch, he's also a club abuser, dodgy shot gets played club is smacked hard into the ground.

All the above is water off ducks back, I'd be happy to stand and wait normally, but following them today, would mean at least a 4.5hrs round, leaving no time for me to get home, ready and out, so I've pulled out today. Irony now, is that what was a three ball will leave my playing partners as a two ball, they'll probably get off in front of the slow three and do the round in 3hrs.

Wouldn't they have let you through?

No point, people in front of them, it's the first Saturday comp on the new course layout, so it's rammed. We normally go off last at 15:30, with no one in front of us. The three I mentioned normally are off before lunch, but I guess they missed their spot when booking on BRS, so they had to fall back to the next available spot and that was in front of us.

Saturdays normally have a decent pace of play, but we have followed these three a couple of times before, on one occasion we made up three holes on them over 18. just over 1.5 hours for the front 9 holes, caught them up on the 12, had to wait on the 13th (par 3) and after that it was slooooow, back 9 2.5hrs.

Maybe a polite request to go out ahead of them as you know they like to take their time and you are in a rush.

Or play behind and push to get through when they lose pace on those in front.

If there's no point in them letting you through because of the people in front of them, how can they be slow?

Played behind the slowest group in the world yesterday, they had lost a hole by the 3rd tee box....finally let through on the 13th tee after looking for yet another ball in the rough. And we'd pulled a hole and a half ahead by the 16th tee box!!

Most tedious time I've had on a golf course to date 😪😪😪😪

You should have tried playing in the group mate
I've never spent as much time looking for one persons ball, it was like on every hole. And the one on 13 was mine :D

I'm confused by this. If it normally takes 3.5hrs and this group always take 4.5hrs then surely there is an hour gap in front of them by the time they finish? So you either ask them to speed up or ask firmly but politely to play through.

Well I guessed that 😉

I've just never seen people move so slow lol. Apparently there's a polite word been put in about the certain offender(s).
