NFL???

I was a bit young to go to an NFL game when I lived in the states but I like to follow it now, it's probably less expensive than flying all the way to the USA to see a game so I'll definitely have a look!

I budget myself about £1000 all in for a week long trip each year to watch the Eagles. Although I do stay with my American Mom when I go out there so works out a bit cheaper as she feeds me as well.

That's cool! I always think that I could do a better job than the current presenters, especially the big bloke on channel 4.

Everyone always think they can do a better job! Believe me, it is a lot harder than it looks. Kev Cadle is there as a link man with Neil Reynolds now handling the analyst role alongside him.

I remember one Sunday night when we were in the next studio to the golf guys and we spent our breaks going in to wind each other up. David Livingstone and Brian Barnes kept coming in to our studio to steal our pizza!

Started watching NFL in the 90's when the Madden Games were massive at school. Always seemed to be the Redskins on the late night games I used to stay up and watch when my parents thought I was in the land of Nod, so based on that I guess i'd say i'm a Redskins fan as I always look for their results.

Have even taken in some of the BAFL games, my local team is the Maidstone Pumas, unfortunately their not all that, they do get a decent following though.

How did you get into it?

I've been a freelance writer for nearly 30 years and the work I had done with the Buccaneers opened a lot of doors with the NFL and then Sky. I did some game-charting Sundays for them where you used to note down key plays and situations for highlight compilations and it just went from there.

NFL Films did a documentary on myself and the Bucs UK fan club in 2009 that ran on the NFL Network and I called Josh Freeman's first NFL pass in the Wembley game against the Patriots.

Probably the best thing recently though was teaming up with one of the Bucs officials to beat Ronde Barber and his brother in a game at Sunningdale when they were over.

Anyone got into playing american football here? I've just been to the trials for my local team, start training in january for the Essex Spartans!

I've contemplated this as theres a couple near me, Kent Exiles in the Bexley/Sidcup area but closer is Maidstone Pumas. Been invited along to a session with the Pumas as been to watch them a couple of times. Not sure I can commit the time needed to training and playing though, what with work, golf and Taekwondo. Going to see how things are with work in next couple of weeks and maybe give it a go. BUt getting no younger so maybe a bad idea.

@Gareth - don't think i've spoke him to before!

@Fader - Kent Exiles and Maidstone Pumas are in same division as Essex I believe! As soon as I went to the tryout session I was in. Never realised how expensive the pads and equipment was though! You might as well give a taster session a go! try everything once...

Yeah I think its the same division and I do fancy giving it a crack, though hadn't even thought about the price of the gear!
