Hi and welcome :D

Where do you play?

I play at Oak Park GC near Farnham.

I'm normally up your neck of the woods 3 or 4 times a year.

My brother lives in borden and my mother in law in hartley whitney. Plus HID has friends in fleet, Aldershot and Farnborough.

Can arrange a game next time i'm up your neck of the woods if you like.

Hi FourPutt.Played Oak Park quite regularily a few years back. You need to be fit to play some of the holes on the back nine. I joined Blackmoor a couple of years back which is much flatter ! Hope you enjoy the forum.

I’m glad you pulled me up on that as your right he cant hit a 7 iron 220 yards my mistake, I hit a 7iron 155 yards and he had about 5 clubs on me so that’s only about 205 yards and that’s if he has 10 yard gaps (it may be more) between clubs.
He used to hit a 5 iron off the tea sometimes and that would roll out 250+ in the summer and I once saw him go through a 330yard par 4 that was up hill.
I don’t know what he used to carry the driver as I cant see that far.
I’m certainly not in the habit of boasting for him (the ***!) but he can hit a golf ball hard but used to forget about the silly little part of the game we call the short game.
Just as a matter of interest, how far do the longest hitting pro’s carry a 7 iron as the local pro said he would be up there with them.
Cheers

I caught a 28lb Tench once and had a superb scrap with a 12lb Gudgeon that snapped my 4lb line and wire trace like cotton
;)

Believe it or not Smiffy some people may be able to hit the ball further than you.
Please tell me where you had that tench from as the water I fish has only done them to 13lb 6oz.
Cheers

Shut up Smiffy my 250lb cod would eat your tench for breakfast.lol.To be honest i would say a pro would hit a 7 iron 170-190,if its true your mate has one helluva strike. Is he a fisherman too.

Welcome aboard. Already shot a 93 and only been playing since November pretty good going that IMO
i've been playing since last July and never done that :o
welcome to the forum mate :)

Just thought I would say that I saw my sister last night and told her about this thread regarding her ex, she said that she had heard from a mutual friend that the ex was now playing off +1 if that adda any validity to the long hitting story.
Although he has obviously sharpened up on his short game, most of his ability lies in his long hitting.
On some of the longer holes I may be hitting say a 5 wood and he would be hitting a short iron, the extra clubs he had doubled on the second shot.
Still a *** though!
Cheers

I don't just believe it, I know it.
About 145-150 yards for me with a 7 iron, and that's on a nice warm day in the Summer.
250 yards with a 5 iron though. That's massive. As massive as a 30lb Tench.
It's got to have been downhill on a tightly mown fairway though. With a following wind/gale surely????

I'd hope a pro could hit a 7 that far. even I had a golden period in the summer, never in a qualifying of course, when I was hitting 6's and 7's silly distances (best, on GPS, was 197 with a 6)- only lasted long enough to start to expect it, then it was over.

Fair do's though, only done it once, and haven't got below 96 since! Obviously was a good day. Hopefully, when the weather gets better I might get near it again! :D
